What is "mexture"?
Mexture represents a mixture of Mexican and American cultures (biculturalism, chicanismo or xicanism@).
Through the words of author & muralist JoséAntonio Burciaga we can grasp a broader understanding of "Chicanismo" as representing: "the ironies in the experience of living within, between and sometimes outside, two cultures... Mexican by nature, American by nurture, a true 'mexture' . . . the damnation, salvation, the celebration of it all".

The purpose of mexture.org is to share stories of Mexican Americans and to also show how mexican immigrant families and their 1st/2nd/3rd generation children, like any other nationality, assimilate into American culture and become true Americans, yet still maintain their mexican identity and cultural heritage.
